JJ Interviewed by Canvas Rebel

I get interviewed now and then by podcasters, bloggers, and magazines. Normally the questions are strictly focused on startups and investing. I was recently interviewed by the online magazine CanvasRebel! which had an unique line of questioning.

They asked about my parents. I have have never been asked that. It took me a long time to understand my parents were just people. My parents came from another time. The Great Depression and World War II helped shape their generation. Duty mattered. You worked hard, took care of your family, solved your own problems, and kept going. I was blessed.

They asked about my reputation and how I built it. How I defend it may be a better question. I suppose making good decisions and treating others fairly is the foundation of a good reputation. The public relations experts prefer to spin the facts for a better story which may be less factual. Stick with the facts.

They asked if I had to pivot in my career and my life. Once again, a better question might be how many times have you had to pivot. Answer: many times. I learned that the trails that lie ahead of and behind us are rarely straight. Plans change frequently and then you must pivot. Don't wait. Pivot before you have to.

That said, all great questions. More in the link. Here's the link: https://canvasrebel.com/meet-john-jackson-2
