1 Out 3 Minutes on the Web is on Social Media
Social media isn’t just a habit—it’s where a big slice of our online lives plays out. On average, more than one in three minutes spent on the web goes to social platforms. That’s 35.8% of daily online activity, or about 2 hours and 23 minutes per day.
Of course, the time we spend varies by age, interest, and platform. Some people scroll quickly, while others get pulled into longer sessions. For example, YouTube users average around 7 minutes and 25 seconds per visit, while Facebook sessions average 3 minutes and 42 seconds.
The takeaway? Social media isn’t just background noise—it’s a central part of how we use the internet every day. For businesses, educators, and content creators, this means that showing up where people already spend their time is more important than ever.
